Within the scope of the Izmir Development Agency Renewable Energy and Environmental Technologies Financial Support Program, a 500 kWp Photovoltaic Power Plant was established in Menderes district of Izmir, as a model for the use of renewable energy resources. The plant, which was established on a land of 10 decares in Bulgurca village, is one of the first among the solar energy systems installed on the ground in Turkey. The system produces an average of 780,000 kWh of electrical energy annually, which is approximately equivalent to the annual electrical energy need of 210 houses. The system also prevents about 500 tons of carbon (CO2) emissions per year.

During the project period, trainings on renewable energy and clean energy production were given in village schools around the plant, and awareness was created with brochures distributed to the local people. The plant, which is the largest power plant built by a non-governmental organization in Turkey, has been visited by more than 3,000 local and foreign people with various profiles such as academics, investors, students and entrepreneurs since the start of its construction.
